Before you go

• Meet in a public place with other people around - never at a private home, hotel, or isolated spot for a first meetup.
• Tell a friend or family member who you are meeting, where, and when you expect to be back.
• Keep your own transportation. Do not rely on the other person for a ride.
• Do not share your home address, workplace, or financial details early in a conversation.

While you are there

• Leave if anything feels off - you do not owe anyone an explanation.
• Never accept drinks, food, or substances you did not watch being prepared.
• Keep your phone charged and with you. Share your live location with a trusted person if that feels right.
• Trust your instincts over politeness. Ghosting a bad vibe is always allowed.

About Link Up and DMs

Matching or messaging on Urban Chat is not a background check. Treat every new contact as a stranger until you have built real trust over time. Profiles can be fake, incomplete, or misleading.

Block

Use Block on a profile or in Settings when you do not want someone contacting you. Blocking cuts the connection on your side so you can move on without debating them.

Report

Use Report on profiles, chat rooms, or Confessions. The Safety overlay requires a reason before submit. In Confessions the author stays anonymous to you — mods still see who to review.

• Harassment - unwanted contact, bullying, or targeting
• Threats - violence, intimidation, or doxxing
• Predatory behavior - sexual pressure, grooming patterns, or unsafe meetup pressure
• Underage concern - any suspicion a member is under 18
• Scam / impersonation - fraud, fake accounts, or stolen identity
• Illegal activity - anything that appears criminal
• Other - something else (short details required)

Include what happened, where (profile, room, post), and any usernames or links. We may remove content, warn, restrict, suspend, or ban accounts. For emergencies or immediate danger, contact local emergency services first - Urban Chat is not 911.

Review timeframe

We aim to review safety reports as soon as practical, prioritizing threats, underage concerns, and predatory behavior. Serious reports may lead to immediate restrictions while we investigate. We may cooperate with law enforcement when legally required or when we believe there is a genuine risk of harm.

Adults only

Urban Chat is for people who are 18 years of age or older. By creating an account or using the service, you confirm you meet that requirement. If we learn someone is under 18, we will remove the account.

If you believe a member is underage, report them immediately with the underage concern reason and any details you have.
